Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (within past 6 months)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving offer through RELIAS (2 attempts maximum)
• Pass/fail exam on day 1 of orientation emphasizing sterile field techniques
• Navy scrubs required
• Must be able to interpret EKGs with centralized telemetry monitoring
• 2-day floor-specific orientation provided
• Care for neurological post-surgical patients, post craniotomy, spine procedures, and CVA patients post-TPA
• No ICP monitoring performed on unit
• Charting system: Cerner
• First to float and may float to sister facility
• BSN not required but nursing license must be submitted
Facility:
This Level 1 trauma center operates a 28-bed neurological unit providing acute care services for complex neurological patients. The facility maintains 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, with hospitalist coverage during the day and on-call at night. The unit features centralized telemetry monitoring and is supported by patient care technicians at a ratio of 1 per 16 patients, with charge nurses managing the unit without patient assignments and clinical supervisors providing management oversight.
