Opportunity:
RN - Neurology Step Down/EMU
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Holiday rotation participation required
• Patient ratio 1:3 for stepdown patients and 1:5-6 for EMU floor patients
• Care for higher acuity neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and epilepsy monitoring patients
• Manage patients with EVDs, post-TPA care, and various neurological conditions
• Must have strong neuroscience experience and history of caring for stroke patients
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS (must have NIHSS certification in hand at submission)
• ACLS preferred but not required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• May float to other units including 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
• Work with common drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, and insulin
• Telemetry monitoring available with monitor techs reading strips
• Two-shift unit orientation provided
• Royal blue scrubs required
• COVID vaccination required (exemptions considered with proper documentation)
• Maximum 2 shift cancellations per 13-week contract

This healthcare facility features the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute Inpatient Step Down Unit, a specialized 31-bed unit combining 25 stepdown beds and 6 epilepsy monitoring unit beds. The facility provides comprehensive neuroscience care with 24/7 charge nurse coverage, respiratory therapy support, and telemetry monitoring services. The organization maintains high standards for neurological patient care and offers advanced treatment options for complex neurological conditions.
