Opportunity:
RN - MICU
Job Details:
• Work 3x12 hour day shifts with 60 guaranteed hours per 2-week period
• Weekend coverage required with variable weekend shifts per contract
• Float required - may float to telemetry units when census requires
• Standard patient ratio of 2:1, may increase to 4:1 with boarder patients
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and 2 hours of stroke-specific education annually
• 2 years minimum experience required with travel experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, multisystem organ failure, CVA, ARDS, and DKA
• Assist with high-acuity procedures including central/arterial line placement, chest tube insertion, rapid sequence intubation
• Manage ventilated patients, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and provide procedural sedation
• Work with specialized equipment including Zoll cooling catheters, Tortoise proning system, Phillips monitors, and Drager ventilators
• Any scrub color permitted except reddish orange
• 24-hour orientation provided
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• 2 pre-approved time off requests allowed
Facility:
This Level II Trauma Center operates with 571 total staffed beds across both campuses and features a high-acuity, fast-paced Medical Intensive Care Unit. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and specialized equipment for complex patient care. The MICU maintains a 28-room unit with daily census of 25 patients and offers extensive support services to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
