IMU - Intermediate Care Unit
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with day/night rotation
• Must be on unit ready to work by 6:45 AM/PM
• Weekend requirements include working 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday/Saturday/Sunday considered weekend shifts)
• Day shift workers must work minimum 3 night shifts per 4-week schedule
• Patient ratios typically 1:5, goal is 1:4, occasionally 1:6
• Required to float to Telemetry or Medical/Surgical units as needed with ratios up to 1:6-7
• Must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, and Heparin
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Manage patients with chest pain, rule out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer, pre/post cardiac catheterizations
• Handle radial band management and removal, groin checks, and Tikosyn therapy patients
• Self-scheduling allowed as long as unit needs are met with 4 requested days off per month
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs top and bottom with navy scrub jackets, no hoodies
• Must have valid driver's license and reside within 50-mile radius
• Strict attendance policy: 2 occurrences including tardiness or call-offs will result in termination
• 2-day orientation with preceptor after initial HR orientation
Facility:
This healthcare facility features a 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit with both private and semi-private rooms, providing specialized cardiac and intermediate-level care. The facility maintains 24/7 in-house coverage including hospitalists, intensivists, residents, IV team, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services. The organization uses EPIC charting system and Nihon Kohden telemetry monitoring, with comprehensive support services including PICC/Midline teams and specialized cardiac care capabilities.
