Cardiology Stepdown RN
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• 2 years stepdown experience in acute care setting required without exception
• Floor-specific orientation of 3 shifts provided
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred
• Must maintain nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 on 44-bed unit
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring system
• Experience with cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin
• Work with ventilator equipment including BiPap, CPAP, vapotherm, and high flow oxygen
• Float to ICU for stepdown patients or assist with tasks if ICU experience available
• Handle fast room turnover with average census of 32-38 patients
• Discharge and admit 12-16 patients per shift on busy days
• Must be flexible working holidays and days around holidays
• Care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients including CABG, thoracotomy, and cardiovascular procedures
• Manage patients with chest tubes, pacemaker wires, and various cardiac conditions
• Dress code requirements: Caribbean Blue scrubs, natural hair color, no fake nails or facial piercings, no visible tattoos
• Must live 75+ miles from facility with driver's license verification required
• Use MEDITECH charting system
• Cancellation policy allows 12 hours every 2 weeks

This healthcare facility features a specialized 44-bed cardiology stepdown unit with dedicated cardiac and cardiovascular surgery services. The facility maintains 24/7 hospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, pharmacy services, and specialized teams including PICC and IV services. The cardiac stepdown unit is divided into two sections, with one focusing on cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery patients, while the other handles smaller procedures, drips, and CHF patients. The facility provides comprehensive cardiac care with advanced monitoring capabilities and specialized equipment for post-operative cardiovascular patients.
