Job Description:
This position involves working in a mixed acuity unit handling Intermediate Care, Tele, MedSurg, with responsibilities for direct admits, ED admits, post Cath Lab patients, and more. Patient types include MI, NSTEMI, STEMI, CHF, and others, with the unit acting as backup for Stroke and Medical Overflow. The registered nurse must manage a variety of patient cases while maintaining a 1:4 patient ratio, or 1:3 depending on acuity.
Responsibilities:
- Handle a mixed acuity unit including Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg.
- Manage RN patient ratios typically at 1:4, occasionally adjusting to 1:3 based on acuity.
- Provide care for post cardiac/vascular, post-cardiac cath, post open heart surgery, and more.
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotation as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience and 1 year specific to PCU.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- Completion of an approved nursing education program; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
- Skills required: PCU level RN, cardiac procedural recovery, MI pharmacology, titratable cardiac/vasoactive gtts, cardiac rhythm interpretation.
