Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia 22908
- Unit: Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) – 24 beds
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Start Date: January 19, 2026
- End Date: April 20, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:00); 36 or 48 hours/week
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling; every other weekend and holiday required
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Orientation: 24 hours (includes modules)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or critical care nursing experience
- Active Virginia RN license (pending accepted; must be in hand before start date)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Epic EMR charting experience
- BSN preferred
- Charge nurse and Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Ability to float within scope of practice
- Professional references required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
CVICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver expert care for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical patients (CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart/lung transplantation)
- Manage complex conditions: CAD, MI, valvular disease, heart failure, aortic aneurysm/dissection, thoracic malignancies
- Assist with advanced procedures: open chest resuscitation, ECMO, IABP, CRRT, TEE, bronchoscopy
- Administer and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips; manage ventilators, arterial/central lines; interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, social services)
- Follow infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
- Participate in self-scheduling and work required weekends/holidays
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
