We are seeking a Surgery Physician Assistant for a locum tenens assignment in New York beginning Jan 2, 2026. This 10-day opportunity involves 12-hour shifts with a mix of days and nights; flexibility is essential as scheduling is based on hospital coverage needs. The role focuses on follow-up care for post-breast surgery patients and benign breast symptom management.

- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p), mix of days and nights; provider flexibility required for coverage adjustments
Responsibilities and Duties- Provide follow-up care for patients who have undergone breast surgery
- Manage benign breast symptoms
- Conduct history and physical examinations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Administer IV medications
- Write admission orders under supervising attending
- Apply skin tests (e.g., PPD)
- Perform arterial blood gas determinations
- Draw blood and collect blood cultures
- Change surgical and non-surgical dressings
- Remove central venous pressure lines and drains
- Perform EKGs and interpret results
- Insert, replace, and remove feeding tubes
- Insert Foley catheters
- Initiate consultation requests
- Initiate CPR and assist in code situations
- Start and manage intravenous infusions and medication drips
- Order and renew medications; perform medication reconciliation
- Monitor vital signs
- Insert, replace, and remove nasogastric tubes; interpret X-rays
- Obtain patient consent
- Order imaging studies (CT, MRI, ECHO) and routine laboratory work
- Provide pain management
- Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary rounds
- Write daily progress notes, discharge orders, and summaries
- Perform pre-operative medical assessments and provide pre- and post-op instructions
- Educate patients on their care
- Insert and remove staples and sutures for wound closure
- Perform venipuncture and phlebotomy
- Type and cross blood
- Perform seroma aspiration
- First assist in the operating room
- Conduct cancer risk assessments for the general population
