- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00), 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 6 beds, average daily census of 4
- Patient Ratio: 1:3
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Guaranteed Hours: All contracted shifts guaranteed after 2 call-offs per 13-week assignment
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrub Color: Royal blue and white
ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience in a hospital setting
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or compact state
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Willingness to float between campuses and within scope as needed
- Ability to work every other weekend
- Must reside at least 50 miles from main campus (local candidates not accepted)
- Previous charge nurse and community hospital experience preferred
- Must pass advanced EKG exam for compliance
ICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit
- Manage a patient ratio of up to 1:3 in a fast-paced ICU environment
- Perform and assist with procedures: arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, and wound care
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV sedation, and emergency medications
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs), dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKGs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
- Float to similar units or between campuses as needed to support patient care
