Des Moines Healthcare Job Details
- Location: Des Moines, Iowa 50309 (Iowa nursing jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 5, 2026 – End: April 6, 2026)
- Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday (4x10 hour shifts/week, rotating day off)
- On-Call: Up to 1 overnight per week and 3 weekends per contract (weekend call: Friday 5pm – Monday 6:30am)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Unit: Operating Room (OR) – 16 suites, average 35-50 cases/day
- Scrubs: Provided
- EMR: EPIC
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2190 - $2350
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
- Proficient circulating experience required; scrub experience preferred
- Experience with General, Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required
- Additional experience in Neuro, Ortho (trauma), Gyn, Uro, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular preferred
- Level I trauma center experience required
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 3 years
- Must have completed at least one travel nursing assignment in the past 12 months (no first-time travelers)
- Ability to float across multiple hospital campuses
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality patient care as part of an interdisciplinary surgical healthcare team
- Circulate and scrub for a wide range of surgical cases: general, robotics, pediatrics, trauma, neuro, ortho, gyn, uro, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular
- Maintain efficient operating room turnover times (goal: under 20 minutes)
- Operate advanced surgical equipment, including Davinci robots and Stealth neuro navigation technology
- Participate in on-call rotation (overnight and weekend coverage)
- Float to other hospital campuses as needed
- Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
