PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Asheville, NC (28801) – North Carolina healthcare jobs
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step Down & Medical Surgical (Med Surg)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/9/2025 – End: 2/8/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts in a 6-week period
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880-$2020
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
- Experience with tracheostomy (trach) care
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Strong clinical skills and flexibility
- Preferred: Experience with Cerner EMR
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care in a 23-bed step down and 16-bed med surg unit
- Manage patient ratios: 1:3-4 (step down) and 1:4-6 (med surg)
- Perform and assist with procedures including trach care, chest tube management, and wound dressing changes
- Utilize clinical equipment such as lifts, cardiac drips, and care for stable vented patients and trachs
- Document patient care and interventions using Cerner EMR
- Float to other med surg and progressive care units as needed
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
