- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:00 – 18:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1630-$1750
- Setting: PACU/Pre-Op (Float required between PreOp & PACU)
- Unit Size: 21 beds, daily census ~30
- Patient Population: Adults, adolescents, and occasional pediatric patients (age 6+)
- Scrub Color: Navy (not provided)
- Charting System: Cerner
- Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
PACU RN Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or compact state
- Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (all required)
- Ability to float between PreOp and PACU units
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred
- Two supervisor references required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
PACU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures
- Float between PreOp and PACU units as needed
- Serve as charge nurse, supporting and guiding healthcare staff
- Monitor and manage pain, airway, and hemodynamic status of post-operative patients
- Care for diverse surgical cases: orthopedic, vascular, spine, and general surgeries
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform thorough patient assessments
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner charting system
