Labor & Delivery RN Job Details
- Location: Midland, TX 79701 (West Texas healthcare jobs)
- Facility Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit, community hospital
- Contract Duration: 16 weeks (minimum 13 weeks considered)
- Start Date: December 15, 2025
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 - 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- Unit Size: 10 beds
- Daily Census: Approximately 20 visits per day
- Orientation: 36 hours
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state; pending license accepted, must be active before start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
- Previous Charge RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, NIHSS
- AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) preferred
- Experience with Cerner EMR charting preferred
- Must be willing to work at least one holiday (eve and day)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)
- On-site drug screening required prior to start
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition (no postpartum)
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal births
- Provide breastfeeding and lactation support to new mothers
- Administer medications and monitor IVs, including magnesium sulfate and insulin drips
- Perform sterile vaginal exams, APGAR scoring, and newborn identification procedures
- Support mothers and families throughout the labor and delivery process
- Float to antepartum unit as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records using Cerner EMR
- Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols for patient safety
