Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position with strong Cerner experience and cardiac monitoring skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Medical Surgical Float Pool within a hospital setting
- Primary unit: 1 North - MS/Oncology
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-07:00)
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating within hospital units as needed
- Self-scheduling is available
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
- Uses Cerner EMR (experience strongly preferred)
- Position is located 40 miles outside of Charlotte in the metro area
- Responsibilities include high flow nasal cannula administration, non-invasive airway management, and surgical drain management
- Care for patients requiring feeding tube and PCA medication management
- Must be comfortable with plastics and respiratory/thoracic procedures
- COVID-19 vaccination required or must provide valid exemption request within 72 hours upon acceptance
- Pre-employment modules (up to 8 hours) must be completed before start date
- Two professional supervisory references required for consideration
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- Return staff must have not worked at the facility in the past 6 months and must be in good standing
- Not accepting travel pairs that are related
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience
- Current BLS certification required
- OCN certification preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response teams required
- IV therapy skills including port access, blood product administration, phlebotomy, and PICC line management
- Experience in pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure care required
- Proficiency in wound care, isolation precautions, and use of wound vacs expected
- Experience using Cerner EMR strongly preferred
