- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5
- Weekend/Holiday: Every 3rd weekend, every other holiday
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1800
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required)
- Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience (required)
- 6 months of acute care hospital experience (preferred)
- BLS certification (required)
- ACLS and NIHSS certifications (required)
- Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)
- Neuro nursing experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients with neuro and cardiac conditions in the PCU observation unit
- Conduct neurological assessments, including NIHSS, for patients with stroke or neurological concerns
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered, monitoring for adverse reactions
- Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team for patient care planning and discharge
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery steps
- Document patient progress and nursing interventions accurately
- Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure, trauma, or complex medical needs
- Respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in clinical quality improvement initiatives
