Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Oncology unit working with mixed acuity patients and requiring ONS Chemotherapy Certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in an inpatient Oncology/Medical-Surgical unit with mixed PCU and MS patients
- Patient population includes leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, and transplant candidates
- Unit performs specialized procedures including autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplants, as well as CAR-T therapy
- Day and night rotating 12-hour shifts with scheduling flexibility required
- No guaranteed block schedule; candidate may be scheduled for days, nights, or both per department needs
- Weekends and holidays may be required based on staffing priorities
- Responsibilities include managing complex oncology diagnoses, administering chemotherapy, and handling stem cell transplant care
- Team-based environment with mixed acuity patients and rapid response team involvement
- Maximum 7 days of requested time off allowed, with no time off permitted during the first 2 weeks of assignment
- Only 1 of the 3 major holidays off can be approved; managers prioritize candidates available for key holiday coverage
- Ohio fingerprinting required promptly after contract acceptance; candidates living outside Ohio must comply with fingerprinting procedures
- Former employees are eligible after a 6-month break; current employees are ineligible
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio) required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- 1 year of medical-surgical and oncology experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification required
- Must have completed education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, blood product administration, and line care required
- At least 2 professional references required, including one from a supervisor or manager
