Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a high acuity PCU/Oncology Telemetry position with night shifts and high infection prevention standards.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a high-acuity Progressive Care Unit with a medical oncology focus
- Unit includes 36 beds, with over 24 dedicated to PCU level care
- Caseload includes oncology, orthopedic and thoracic oncology, rare pediatric patients, and occasional med-surg cases
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), with day/night shift options available
- Self-scheduling is available with input prior to final schedule posting
- First week orientation is Monday through Friday day shift, followed by 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for med surg telemetry
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, and PCA pumps
- Main tasks include care and management of oncology PCU patients, infection prevention, fall prevention, and administration of complex therapies
- Unit has a heavy emphasis on infection prevention and patient falls
- Training includes a week of centralized orientation and on-unit preceptorship
- Strict compliance is required for Ohio fingerprinting as part of credentialing
- RTO (requested time off) must be included at time of application
- Locals are accepted at the same pay rate
- Former employees are eligible for travel assignments if they have been away at least 6 months
- Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are not eligible for a traveler role

Requirements
- Current OH or compact RN license in hand
- Minimum 2 years high acuity PCU patient experience required
- Certifications required: BCLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage rapid response teams
- Must be able to start IVs, manage blood products, access ports, and care for various lines including PICC and central lines
- Must provide two professional references, one from a manager or supervisor
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
