Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Renal Stepdown unit with a focus on high-acuity cardiac and telemetry patients, requiring three years of recent Cardiac/Tele experience and a compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is located in a Cardiac Renal Stepdown unit within a teaching hospital
- Day shifts are 12 hours, from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Unit has 32 beds with patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days
- High-acuity Tele/Med-Surg patient population including complex cardiac and dialysis cases
- Frequent care for patients with afib, heart blocks, CHF, sepsis, post-ablation, and nephrostomy tubes
- Requires floating within skillset, with possible floating to additional campuses up to 11 miles away; 2-hour notice given for cross-campus float
- Weekend requirement is three out of every six weekends, with every other holiday required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- CN rarely takes patients on day shift, but does so on nights
- Will be responsible for caring for high-acuity cardiac and renal patients including monitoring rhythms and managing complex drips
- Teaching hospital environment may require precepting students and new hires
- Strong, experienced team led by a manager with 15+ years of tenure
- Dress code requires scrubs with no competing health system or agency logos
- COVID-19 vaccine is not required but subject to change
- Three call-ins may result in termination
- First-time travelers will not be considered due to required travel experience
- No local candidates will be considered due to a 40-mile radius rule
Requirements
- Active compact or IN RN license required
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum of 3 years strong recent Cardiac/Telemetry RN experience
- At least 2 prior travel assignments required
- Recent Trauma Level II experience required
- Ability to interpret 12-lead EKGs and pass Telemetry competency testing
- Proven experience with drips (antiarrhythmics, heparin, etc.), PIV insertion, chest tube and drain management, antidysrhythmic medications, CBI, and nephrostomy tubes
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Recent EPIC charting system experience with ability to pass a checkoff class
- Must not reside within a 40-mile radius of the facility
