Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment requiring Epic experience and an active VT or compact license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital-based medical-surgical telemetry unit
- Patient population includes acutely ill individuals with a diverse range of medical conditions
- Expected to handle IV pumps, Phillips monitors, PCA/PCEA, chest tubes, and wound vacs
- Rotating 12-hour shifts including days and nights, with 36 hours per week
- Requires floating to similar units as needed
- Uses Epic EMR, and recent experience within the last 12 months is mandatory
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays
- Block schedules are not permitted under any circumstances
- Reliable personal or rental transportation is essential, as public transit is not available
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April
- First-time travelers are not explicitly required but prior travel experience is preferred
- Complete employment history with explanation of any gaps over 90 days is required for consideration
Requirements
- Active VT or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
- Experience in a large teaching hospital setting is required
- BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR within the last 12 months is nonnegotiable
- Experience with specified equipment including IV pumps, Phillips monitors, PCA/PCEA, chest tubes, and wound vacs
