Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring recent Epic experience, a compact RN license, and trauma level II background.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital Med/Surg unit with 41 beds
- Patient population includes post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF cases
- Night shifts: 12 hours, 6:30pm–7am
- Patient ratios are 1:4–5 on days and 1:6–7 on nights
- Floating required within skillset to nearby campuses with at least 2 hours' notice for cross-campus float
- Three weekends required per six-week schedule and every other holiday
- Remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight cath/Foleys, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management performed
- Recent Epic charting experience required and completion of a checkoff class
- Responsibilities include precepting students and new hires as part of a teaching hospital environment
- Support includes experienced leadership and CNA staff on the unit
- Maximum of 3 call-ins permitted before termination
- Scrubs must be free of competing health system or agency logos
- COVID-19 vaccine is not required at this time but may be subject to change
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required
- American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of strong Med/Surg experience and history of 2 travel assignments
- Experience in a trauma level II setting required
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
- Must reside outside a 40-mile radius from the facility
