Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring LDRP experience, independent delivery, and circulating in C-sections.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care birthing center and mother-baby unit
- Labor & Delivery unit with 34 beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
- Handles 150-180 births per month on average
- Typical ratios: 1:2 for L&D and 1:3-4 for couplets, following AWHONN guidelines
- Patient population includes 33 weeks and above, high-risk pregnancies, preeclampsia, diabetes, psych/social issues, and substance exposure
- Uses Epic EMR and Centricity-perinatal EFM
- Night shifts, 12 hours, with every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights)
- No floating outside the department; responsibilities include post-partum and newborn transition
- Block scheduling is available upon request
- Provide comprehensive L&D and postpartum care, assist with deliveries, and support newborn transition
- RNs are expected to participate in routine mom and baby competencies
- Charge RN is free from patient assignment on all shifts
- 24/7 in-house coverage by OBGYN, neonatology, and anesthesia providers
- Support staff includes a surgical tech and a patient care assistant per shift
- Scrubs are provided and lockers are available
- Orientation includes compliance, Epic training, and unit-specific shifts
- Holiday coverage is rotated with permanent staff
- On-call/standby response time must be within 45 minutes when required
Requirements
- Active RN license (State or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP experience, with consideration given to those with 1 year of experience and multiple prior travel assignments
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Must be comfortable with independent delivery attendance, circulating in C-sections, and newborn transition
- Experience with titrating drips such as magnesium, Pitocin, and insulin
- Experience with Epic charting preferred
- Copy of driver's license required
- Two professional references: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates may not have been employed by the health system within the past year
