Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Float Pool MedSurg/Tele position requiring active CO or compact RN license and strong floating abilities.
Responsibilities
- Float pool role covering MedSurg and Tele units within a 60-mile radius of the base city center
- No home unit; assignments may change on a schedule-by-schedule basis
- Work is performed across multiple Centura locations as part of a centralized float zone
- 12-hour day shifts, three days per week
- Uses Epic EMR system; Epic experience preferred
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Demonstrate competency in IV therapy, wound care, medication administration, and catheterization
- Provide patient and family education, advocating for health and safety
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes
- Participate in unit quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities
- All travelers must receive a flu vaccination during flu season unless a medical exemption by a physician is provided
- Dress code or scrub requirements will be confirmed at assignment
- Returning travelers must take a 30-60 day break after one year on assignment
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
- American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least one year of nursing experience preferred, specifically in MedSurg or Telemetry
- Must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the float zone to be eligible as a traveler
