Summary:
Cheshire Medical Center is seeking a dedicated OR RN to join their surgical team immediately. This position offers a 13-week assignment with a guaranteed 8 hours per day, with the possibility of occasional evening shifts to accommodate patient care needs. The RN will be integral in delivering high-quality surgical care across a broad spectrum of procedures, including endocrine, breast, oncologic, gastrointestinal, colon, rectal, and hepatobiliary surgeries, utilizing both open and laparoscopic techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scrubbing in on surgical procedures within the OR, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety
- Assisting surgeons during various procedures, providing critical support and maintaining seamless workflow
- Monitoring patient condition pre, intra, and post-operation
- Collaborating effectively with OR staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Adapting quickly to high-stress situations with professionalism and composure
- Documenting all procedures accurately and comprehensively
What You Bring:
- Proven experience as an OR RN, with strong sterile scrubbing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with surgical teams and patients
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, ensuring safety and efficiency
- Flexibility to work occasional evening shifts beyond standard hours
- A proactive approach to teamwork and problem-solving
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred
- At least 2 years of OR RN experience in a hospital setting, with familiarity in a wide range of surgical procedures
- Experience working in a fast-paced surgical environment with diverse case types
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization, and infection control protocols
Additional Details:
- Weekly stipend: $318.94
- Weekly taxable pay: $461.01
- Total contract duration: 13 weeks
- Scheduled end date: December 1, 2026
- Guaranteed hours: 40 hours/week, primarily 8-hour days, with flexibility for occasional evenings
- Orientation: Non-billable, with a multiplier of 1.25x for overtime and holiday hours
