Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment on an oncology-focused unit with night shifts and EPIC experience required.
Responsibilities
- Work in a med/surg telemetry oncology unit within a hospital setting
- Care for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and chemotherapy administration
- Patient population includes individuals with soft tissue malignancies, comorbidities, and those needing intensive symptom management
- Nursing ratio is 1:4
- Uses B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
- Night shift schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
- Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Oncology experience is preferred but not required for this role
- Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient falls management
- Responsibilities include managing comorbidities and symptom management related to disease progression or treatment
- Specialized training and onboarding will be provided as needed
- Former employees eligible if separated from the facility for over 6 months; current employees are not eligible as travelers
- Locals are accepted at the same pay rate
- All time-off requests must be disclosed prior to assignment confirmation
- Fingerprinting for Ohio is required as soon as contract is signed
Requirements
- Active OH or compact state RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BCLS certification required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias, manage arterial and central lines, perform IV starts, access ports, manage PICC lines, administer blood products, assist with chest tube procedures, operate high-flow nasal cannula, interpret ABGs
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
