Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Iowa or compact state
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required before first shift
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required before first shift
- Minimum two (2) years of recent bedside clinical experience in Med/Surg or critical care
- Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical support skills
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans; identify patient teaching needs
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in electronic medical records
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and discharge planning
- Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team to ensure continuity and safety
- Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees
- Promote patient and employee safety by following hospital policies and safety procedures
- Contribute to unit team building and maintain a supportive work environment
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested after orientation
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education for nursing jobs
