ER RN Job Details
- Location: Abilene, Texas 79606 (Texas nursing jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/10/2025 – End: 2/9/2026)
- Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1700-$1820
- Unit: Emergency Department (26 beds, 22 rooms, daily census ~70)
- Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Travel Requirement: Must reside 150+ miles from facility (travel nursing job)
- Orientation: 16 hours, with required modules completed during orientation
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state; must have license in hand at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
- Proficiency with Allscripts charting system required; Altera experience preferred
- Ability to manage a 4:1 patient ratio in a fast-paced ER setting
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Must complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance
ER RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality emergency care to patients of all ages in a busy Emergency Department
- Perform triage, assessment, and emergency interventions for a wide range of diagnoses
- Administer blood products and emergency medications as needed
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction, and failure
- Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG results
- Start and maintain IVs, perform phlebotomy procedures
- Implement isolation precautions and manage ventilators
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services, etc.)
- Accurately document patient care using Allscripts electronic health records
