Job Summary: The PSM Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) elements, ensuring regulatory compliance and the integrity of the ammonia system at the facility. This role requires a proactive leader capable of guiding plant personnel, enforcing compliance standards, and fostering a strong process safety culture.
Key Responsibilities: - Implement and maintain PSM programs, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met, as directed by the Industrial Refrigeration Manager.
- Lead and provide guidance to PSM teams; assist plants in developing and sustaining site-specific policies, procedures, programs, and training to comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct routine meetings with designated refrigeration personnel and coordinate corporate programs to drive consistency across sites.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of PSM (14 elements), RMP, and applicable state and federal regulations; provide technical and high-level PSM training as required.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and evaluations of plant performance to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate and participate in PSM and RMP program activities including Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- Monitor and support operating procedure training, including annual reviews, initial, and refresher training; maintain the training matrix.
- Facilitate employee participation programs, promoting process safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Oversee updates to facility process safety information and maintain the facility's RMP plan, including offsite consequence analyses.
- Support corporate and regulatory audits (OSHA, EPA) and assist in compliance activities.
- Provide technical direction to corporate teams, engineering, maintenance, and contractors for refrigeration and cooling projects or modifications.
- Manage electronic documentation through SharePoint and PSM management tools (APSM).
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including notification of environmental or safety incidents per company procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: - Experience: Minimum 3 years leading and coordinating PSM and RMP activities at the facility or asset level; solid knowledge of PSM standards and RMP rules.
- Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent in a technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications/Training: Formal training in HAZOP and What-if/Checklist PHAs (or willingness to complete training).
- Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, regulations, and professional journals.
- Strong report writing, correspondence, and procedure documentation skills.
- Effective presentation and communication skills for interacting with management, employees, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Competency in calculations, basic algebra and geometry, and interpretation of schematics or design software.
- Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and technical software tools.
