The
Lead LMS (Learning Management System) Administrator serves as the company's subject matter expert responsible for the technical ownership, administration, and optimization of the LMS. This role ensures system stability, data integrity, compliance reporting, and user experience across the company. Configures, troubleshoots, and enhances LMS functionality with SCORM/xAPI-based learning assets. As the primary liaison between Learning, IT, Compliance, and third-party vendors, this role establishes governance standards, manages integrations (e.g., Workday), and delivers actionable analytics to enable strategic decision-making. Collaborates with peers and stakeholders to support the full learning lifecycle, including eLearning and instructor-led training (ILT) campaigns, automated course assignments, dashboards, and custom reporting.
Responsibilities: - Work closely with peers, business leaders, and stakeholders to align LMS initiatives with organizational priorities. Design and deliver audience campaigns for both eLearning and instructor-led (ILT) programs, including automated assignments and notifications to ensure timely delivery. Manage course launches and enterprise rollouts, providing clear communication to maximize adoption. Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions on LMS functionality, including custom reports, dashboard analytics, and workflows. Develop departmental power users to reduce dependency on central support.
- Manage the full lifecycle of learning content within the LMS. Upload, test, debug, and publish SCORM/AICC/xAPI packages, applying Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Visual Basic coding to repair or customize modules. Create eLearning courses, assignments, assessments, and dashboards for compliance and professional development programs. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure content is optimized, functional, and compatible following upgrades or patches.
- Build and automate reports and dashboards to track compliance, completions, utilization, engagement, and ROI. Maintain audit-ready records and ensure all legal, regulatory, and corporate compliance standards are met. Partner with HR, Legal, and business leaders to fulfill audit requests and provide ad hoc reporting. Deliver analytics that measure ROI and the effectiveness of enterprise-wide learning programs.
- Collaborate with IT to maintain and enhance integrations between the LMS and key systems such as HRIS (e.g., Workday), performance management tools, and third-party content providers. Leverage APIs, SSO, and other connectors to improve efficiency and user experience. Manage vendor relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for escalations, patches, and roadmap planning. Conduct regression testing during system upgrades or patches to confirm courses, integrations, reports, and workflows continue to function as expected, working directly with internal IT administrators to troubleshoot and optimize deployments.
- Manages the day-to-day operation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of the LMS. Monitor system performance and partner with IT to conduct root-cause analysis of outages or slowdowns. Enforce data retention and archival policies to safeguard learning records. Ensure the LMS remains stable, efficient, and aligned with enterprise needs, while evaluating functionality and efficiency improvements to the learning platform.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Learning Technologies, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration experience, preferably in a mid-to-large enterprise.
- Certification in learning technology or instructional technology (ATD, SHRM, or comparable) preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in SCORM/xAPI compliance, debugging, and courseware publishing.
- Experience creating and deploying eLearning courses and ILT assignments through LMS campaigns.
- Experience partnering with IT and external vendors on system integrations and upgrades.
- Experience with HRIS/LMS integrations (e.g., Workday) strongly preferred.
- Experience with multiple LMS platforms (e.g., Workday Learning, Cornerstone, SuccessFactors) preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel. Office 365 experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Visual Basic, including SCORM manifest editing.
- Strong understanding of APIs, system integrations, and SSO protocols.
- Advanced reporting/analytics skills; SQL or BI tool experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with compliance standards, audit documentation, data governance, and accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG).
- Strong vendor management and contract evaluation skills.
- Ability to design and execute QA test scripts for content deployment.
- Knowledge of change management principles to support user adoption.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills to interface with IT, vendors, business leaders, and end-users.
- Ability to adapt and flex to a changing environment.
- Ability to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, support and explain reasoning, involve the right stakeholders in decision-making, and act in a timely manner.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, enterprise environment and act as a technical leader without formal supervisory authority.
Compensation
The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $80,155.00 to $100,182.00 Annually. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.
Additional Compensation
This position is eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus.
