The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is seeking a Technical Success Coordinator to serve as a key point of contact for school district and state agency staff on Student Information System (SIS) data entry and transfer processes, as well as an essential contact with the SIS vendor partners. This position will develop knowledge of Ed-Fi API technology and SCDE's Ed-Fi data integrations with a focus on Student Information System (SIS) setup, data entry, and SIS Ed-Fi integration. This role is integral in ensuring effective data transfer and alignment with downstream data needs. The ideal candidate will be skilled in communicating, distilling technical concepts into understandable terms, and executing workflow processes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Knowledge Base & Communication - Serve as a point of contact for school district, state agency, and SIS partner staff on data entry and transfer processes. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to support internal and external communication.
- Process Documentation & Training - Create and maintain documentation for data entry and transfer processes. Provide technical training to school districts and external stakeholders.
- Student Information System (SIS) Support - Coordinate and assist with the proper use of PowerSchool and other student information systems (SIS). Monitor and track district requests for SIS support, working with SIS partner and SCDE teams to resolve issues. Maintain historical and current documentation for SIS-related support.
- System Maintenance & Data Collections - Assist in maintaining SIS test database servers, monitoring periodic data collections from districts and special schools, and tracking multiple SIS versions and implementations.
- Development & Testing - Support the evaluation, development, and testing of new and existing SIS-related data system components. Support positive vendor relationships related to these components and collaborate on instructional and technical documentation.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement - Support an effective flow of communication between SCDE and district SIS users, coordinators, and managers through various methods such as email, memoranda, etc. Engage with District Data Governance Group (DDGG) to promote alignment and support.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in SQL and/or API interactions.
- Knowledge of PowerSchool.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to quickly learn and communicate about complex data systems.
- Experience with technical documentation.
- Desire to support progress toward cutting edge solutions in modernizing education data systems, streamline reporting processes, and drive data-informed decision-making at a statewide level.
- Willingness to work well with people, both technical and non-technical, to convey knowledge and build positive working relationships, including team members, executives, and partners.
