Registered Nurse – Clinical Nurse II – Perioperative (CVOR) – Local Contract
Facility: Hoag Newport Beach
Location: 1 Hoag Dr., Newport Beach, CA 92663
Start Date: September 22, 2025
End Date: December 19, 2025
Duration: 3 months (possible extension or conversion based on need/performance)
Shift: Day Shift (6:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Schedule: 5 days/week, 8-hour shifts, on-call during the week and 1 weekend/month
Hours per Week: 40
Position Overview:
Hoag Newport Beach is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse II for the Perioperative unit, supporting open-heart surgeries including coronary procedures, bypasses, valve replacements, and aortic dissections. This local contract role includes scrub and circulate duties in the CVOR, cath lab, OR, recovery room/PACU, and pre/post-op units. The role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to provide safe, timely, and high-quality perioperative care.
Certifications & Requirements:
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (CA RN) – Required
- Current BLS certification – Required
- ACLS certification – Required within 6 months of hire
- CNOR certification from CCI – Preferred
Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including at least 1 year in Cardiac OR
- Experience supporting open-heart surgeries such as coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), valve replacements, and aortic dissections
- Both scrub and circulate experience preferred
- Recent completion of Hoag Perioperative Training Program acceptable in lieu of OR experience
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in perioperative nursing care, including patient assessments, pain management, medication administration, and specimen collection
- Knowledge of perioperative protocols and evidence-based nursing practices
- Ability to manage ethical/legal/medical dilemmas and collaborate with healthcare team members
- Participation in professional development and hospital committees encouraged
