Overview Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Business Operations Specialist to provide advanced operational, financial, and strategic support for Department of Defense (DoD) programs within one or more Major DoD Systems (MDoDS) functional areas. This role plays a critical part in ensuring program execution, compliance with federal standards, and continuous operational improvement.
The specialist will partner with leadership, project managers, and cross-functional teams to optimize business processes, track performance, and deliver mission-aligned solutions that support both customer and corporate objectives.
Responsibilities Business Operations Specialist required skills and experience: - Active TS/SCI Clearance
- 8+ years of experience in business operations, financial management, or program support within DoD/Federal environments
- Proven expertise in MDoDS sustainment, maintenance, and life cycle support
- Strong background in business analysis, operations management, and contract/task order execution
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver executive-level briefings, reports, and recommendations
- Proficiency with financial systems, business intelligence tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)
- Experience working in classified, mission-driven environments
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Support program and task order execution across multiple MDoDS functional areas
- Conduct business process analysis, financial tracking, and operational assessments to drive efficiency and performance
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to inform decision-making and ensure compliance
- Partner with project managers and program leaders to align resources, schedules, and deliverables with mission requirements
- Provide subject matter expertise in budgeting, accounting, workforce planning, and operational process improvement
- Ensure compliance with DoD, Federal, and corporate policies, standards, and reporting requirements
- Assist in the development and dissemination of strategies, best practices, and lessons learned to strengthen program operations
- Communicate effectively with senior leaders, government customers, and internal stakeholders
Sr Business Operations Specialist required Education and Certifications: - Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Graduate degree (preferred) in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), preferred
- Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
- CPA, CMA, or other financial/accounting certifications (if aligned with the functional area)

A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
