The?Office of Human Resources (OHR); Police Stress Management Team's (SMT) primary mission is to promote the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of the Montgomery County Department of Police employees and their family members through counseling, training, and consultation services. SMT is a small group of clinically trained psychologists, licensed in the state of Maryland. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The?SMT is recruiting for an experienced and full-time Administrative Specialist II to provide comprehensive administrative support to the team. This position ensures the smooth and confidential operation of psychological services, including scheduling and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The Administrative Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining and managing sensitive information, ensuring effective communication, and supporting mental health and wellness initiatives for law enforcement personnel and their family members.
What You'll Be Doing The position will be responsible for a variety of professional level administrative duties, including but not limited to, records management, data analysis, and reporting. It will also conduct general research and prepare professional presentations on behalf of the Stress Management Team.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Serve as an administrative liaison between the Police Stress Management Team and department personnel, ensuring clear and professional communication.
- Managing daily administrative and technical operations such as working with IT or Facilities to resolve technical or other office related concerns.
- Manage phone calls, emails, and inquiries for specialized services with the Police Stress Management Team.
- Safeguard confidential records, track, and prepare reports in compliance with State mandates and/or in response to requests for aggregate service utilization trends or benchmarking. Monitor and dispose of outdated, expired, or unnecessary records or materials in accordance with agency policy or authorized retention schedules.
- Monitoring procurement actions, and tracking fiscal resources to ensure smooth operations
- Support psychologists' research of current trends, studies, and best practices related to public safety mental health. Under the psychologists' guidance, design and prepare PowerPoint presentations, handouts, and flyers for psychologist-led workshops, briefings, and wellness programs.
This position balances high-level administrative coordination, technical skills, confidentiality, and content accuracy within a law enforcement environment where the stakes are high and expectations for professionalism are strict. It also demands adaptability, as priorities can shift quickly in response to emerging personnel or departmental needs.
This work requires ordinary physical effort including sitting using microcomputer equipment, walking, standing, bending, and reaching for or carrying items associated with working in an office environment.
Minimum Qualifications Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience providing administrative support (e.g., budget preparation, equipment and material control, data reporting and preparation, research and development or other related areas) in a behavioral health environment.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

- Have excellent communication (written and verbal), computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
