Executive Assistant to the CEO Department: Executive Assistant
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Washington, DC
Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 / year
Description Desmos Studio is on a mission to help everyone learn math, love math, and grow with math. We do this by building a free suite of math tools, used by more than 100 million people around the world. As a Public Benefit Corporation, we're committed to keeping our core products freely available for individual use, not relying on external funding, never allowing 3rd party advertising, and never selling our users' data. We're able to stand behind those commitments on the back of being healthily profitable with a transparent business model: we license our software to other companies to enhance their work and incorporate into their products.
We're looking for an EA to our CEO to help him operate at the highest level as we pursue this mission. You'll be the CEO's close confidant and go-to person for everything from calendar coordination to relationship management, inside and outside of the company.
This role needs someone who brings ironclad discretion and judgment, as you'll have visibility and influence over every part of his life. It'll require the ability to build efficient but flexible systems, since no two days will look the same. And it'll require emotional intelligence and a healthy balance of kindness and firmness, as a representative of the CEO and Desmos with a wide range of people. Your knack for anticipating what's needed, solving tricky problems, and handling all the details-from strategic business planning to thoughtful personal touches like coordinating gifts and optimizing travel-will be key to keeping everything running smoothly.
This job will require being in or near Washington DC at least a few days per week.
What to Expect from the Role - Manage logistics with multiple stakeholders . You've navigated complex scheduling and travel arrangements.
- Navigate ambiguity and uncertainty . You're comfortable adjusting on the fly and are hard to ruffle. You're able to work flexible hours as needed.
- Show professionalism and discretion. You have experience handling highly sensitive information with care and confidentiality
- Anticipate and solve problems proactively. You can predict and resolve challenges before anyone else even notices.
- Communicate with a wide range of audiences. You're just as comfortable chatting with a student who loves Desmos as you are with an executive of a partnering organization.
- Give (and receive) constructive feedback. You'll be a key person holding the CEO accountable to the needs of the organization and his values.
- Desmos Studio's founding story, and how we came to be the company we are today
- Our Guiding Principles, and how they reflect Desmos Studio's unique culture
- Our team and how every team member contributes to our overall success
- Our products and what our users love about them
- Other priorities and responsibilities of the CEO outside of Desmos
- Spend a bunch of time shadowing the CEO, including joining some meetings
- Begin to manage scheduling
- Prepare some briefings for key meetings
- Meet people from across the team
- Assume full ownership over scheduling inside and outside of Desmos
- Own all travel for the CEO, including booking accommodations
- Design flexible systems that make your and his jobs sustainable
- Build continuously improving routines for cultivating strong relationships and communicating consistently inside and outside of the company
- Become a trusted strategic partner with a deep understanding of the CEO's preferences and priorities and with access to all of the information of Desmos
- Balance day-to-day execution with longer-term strategic thinking about how to make the CEO more and more effective each year
- Become a representative of the CEO inside and outside of Desmos, with the ability to anticipate needs before they arise
- Take a vacation! We do our best work when we are rested
As part of the team, you'll receive:
- Competitive compensation . Every full-time member of the team receives generous stock and salary compensation as well as a 401(k) match of up to 5% of annual salary
- Great benefits . We offer medical, vision, dental, short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance. We also offer Medical and Dependent Care FSAs, 25 full-company holidays, and more!
- Work-life balance . We value results over specific hours and also sustainable, long-term success over short-term wins
- Ownership and influence . As a member of a small team with few external stakeholders, each person here plays a major role in defining our policies, goals, culture, and benefits
