Job Description The Legislative Affairs Agency (LAA) is recruiting for an Administrative Operations Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is an essential member of the management team, responsible for overseeing and executing critical administrative, financial, and legislative functions. They play a vital role in managing and monitoring the Legislature's annual budget, tracking legislative actions that affect the Legislature, and providing operational support to the Executive Director's office and other Agency sections as appropriate.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated professional with a strong background in financial management and budgeting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clear and effective communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently while supporting informed decision-making. Familiarity with the State of Alaska's accounting and reporting systems, including IRIS-FIN and ALDER, is highly desirable. Leadership experience-whether through team supervision or project management-is a significant asset. While we understand no candidate is likely to check every box, we're looking for someone who brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach and a commitment to excellence.
During the legislative session, Agency staff may experience long work hours and important deadlines requiring the ability to stay composed under pressure.

- Agency staff may accrue compensatory time for hours worked over the standard work week, capped at 150 hours per year. There is no cash value to compensatory time.
- An average of 21 days per year of accrued leave. The State offers paid leave starting at 6:04 h:mm a pay period or 21 days a year. If you have previous time working for either the Executive or Judicial branch in a leave eligible position, that time will be calculated into your accrual rate.
- 12 paid State holidays.

Minimum Qualifications This is a fully exempt job class under AS 39.25.110(3).
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or management, or a related field;
AND
Three years of progressively responsible budget and accounting work experience, including:
- At least two years of experience in budget analysis, financial management, or legislative operations; and
- Experience in government budget preparation, legislative tracking, or financial forecasting is preferred.
Substitution Six years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, finance, accounting, public administration, or a related field;
OR
Six years of a combination of education and progressively responsible experience in budgeting, finance, accounting, public administration, or a related field.
