Job Summary:
The Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care to patients who require continuous cardiac monitoring, often those recovering from heart attacks, surgeries, or with chronic heart conditions. The Telemetry RN closely monitors vital signs, interprets telemetry readings, and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry readings to detect abnormal patterns or changes in cardiac rhythms.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and initiate life-saving interventions when necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other health professionals.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medications, and care plans.
- Document all patient care activities and changes in condition accurately in the medical record.
- Ensure all equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, telemetry packs) is functioning properly and report malfunctions.
- Maintain patient safety and infection control standards.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in [state].
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in telemetry or critical care preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EKG interpretation and cardiac medications.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
- Hospital or acute care setting.
- Fast-paced environment with high patient acuity.
- Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
