**Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist**
**Shift:** 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Flexible Monday - Friday; No Weekends or Holidays)
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound using high-frequency sound waves to assist medical professionals in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
**Essential Job Functions:**
- Perform ultrasound procedures per departmental guidelines, ensuring completion within the allocated time.
- Conduct daily clerical duties using EPIC, Tele tracking systems, and other computer systems, including patient scheduling.
- Perform portable ultrasound examinations as needed.
- Execute complex technical tasks to detect anatomical abnormalities, including masses, abscesses, and stones as per prescribed sonographic procedures.
- Prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment effectively.
- Explain diagnostic procedures to patients, measuring and positioning them for optimal anatomical views.
- Evaluate the technical quality of ultrasound images, ensuring accurate and high-quality acquisitions.
- Maintain meticulous records, archiving and de-archiving data as required; calculate and document data from numerical readings on patient charts.
- Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment while stocking and replenishing as necessary.
- Provide technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.
- Adhere to proper safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, considering age, culture, and any specific needs including language or sensory impairments.
- Comply with organizational policies, including attendance and punctuality standards.
**Technical Skills Required:**
- Proficiency in Breast Ultrasound Techniques, including routine and complex examinations using appropriate scanning protocols.
- Expertise in image acquisition and optimization, adjusting ultrasound settings to enhance image clarity and minimize artifacts.
- Strong knowledge of breast anatomy and pathology to accurately interpret images and identify suspicious findings.
- Competence in operating and maintaining ultrasound equipment and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
- Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for efficient image management and workflow.
- Experience in assisting with ultrasound-guided breast interventions such as biopsies and aspirations.
- Participation in quality control and assurance programs to maintain high standards of equipment performance and imaging quality.
**Education and Experience:**
- Required: Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound School and 2 years of training in Allied Health/College.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound.
**Certifications:**
- Required: RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer).
- Preferred: Additional certifications may be beneficial.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand for at least 6 hours a day.
