Position Summary
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures in accordance with established protocols. This role works closely under the direction of radiologists and physicians to ensure high-quality imaging and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate MRI equipment and perform scans per protocol
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout procedures
- Apply MRI safety principles to minimize risk
- Confirm accuracy of patient and procedural data
- Select appropriate pulse sequences and scan parameters
- Provide patient instructions and care before, during, and after procedures
- Administer IV injections and contrast agents
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions
- Assist in training new staff and overseeing MRI students
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree from an ARRT-accredited program (preferred)
- Certification:
- ARRT Certification in Radiologic Technology
- Advanced MRI Registry (MR) – required or must obtain within 1 year of hire
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association) – required before patient care
- Experience:
- 1+ year in a hospital MRI department (preferred)
- Experience with EPIC EHR and PACS (preferred)
