The facility offers comprehensive healthcare services, including a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage, advanced surgical and orthopedic services, emergency care, wound care, diagnostic imaging, women's health services, and comprehensive cardiac care.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) practices independently in a Labor & Delivery and Postpartum setting, providing both routine and complex patient care. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Patient Ratios
- Labor & Delivery: 1:2
- Postpartum: 1:6 (3 mothers / 3 babies)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process.
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate maternal and newborn patients.
- Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols.
- Monitor patients for treatment effectiveness and adverse reactions.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
- Educate patients and families regarding care plans, treatment, and discharge instructions.
- Delegate and coordinate patient care activities appropriately.
- Respond effectively to changing patient conditions and clinical situations.
- Support a patient-centered, team-oriented care environment.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in a related specialty preferred
- Recent Perinatal, Labor & Delivery, or Mother-Baby experience preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Texas RN License or Compact RN License
- BLS Certification (AHA required)
- ACLS Certification (AHA required)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) Certification
- STABLE Certification (Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor)
Additional Requirements
- Completion of new nurse orientation and unit-specific competency validation.
- Successful completion of annual competency requirements.
- Ability to provide safe, effective care in a fast-paced perinatal environment.
