As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator – OR within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience.
In this full-time position, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator – OR serves as a clinical leader and resource for the operating room nursing team. Working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and the broader interdisciplinary care team, you will coordinate day-to-day clinical operations in the OR to optimize patient flow, staff utilization, and the overall quality of care. You will be directly involved in preoperative assessment, intraoperative nursing care, and postoperative handoff, supporting evidence-based perioperative practice and Mission Health’s commitment to compassionate care.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator – OR provides hands-on clinical expertise, functioning as a circulating nurse and, as appropriate, scrubbing for procedures. You will guide the team in maintaining aseptic technique, adhering to infection prevention protocols, and upholding medication safety standards. You will assist with staff scheduling and real-time assignment of nursing staff based on patient acuity, case complexity, and individual competencies, ensuring the right nurse is at the right place at the right time.

You will provide constructive feedback, assist with competency validation, and foster a supportive environment that encourages continuous learning and clinical excellence. You will help lead quality and safety initiatives, participate in performance improvement projects, and use clinical data to identify opportunities to enhance patient outcomes, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator – OR also helps ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including policies related to documentation, surgical counts, time-outs, and safe handoff communication. You will play a key role in monitoring clinical quality indicators, participating in root cause analyses of safety events, and implementing changes designed to strengthen patient safety in the surgical setting.
