LewisGale Medical Center, a full-service tertiary hospital providing comprehensive specialty and surgical services, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Medical Surgical unit. In this leadership-focused clinical role, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides direct patient care while coordinating daily operations on a busy Med-Surg floor that cares for adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Working within a culture that emphasizes compassionate care, teamwork, and professional development, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator supports staff nurses and assistive personnel with patient assignments, clinical decision-making, and escalation of care. This nurse serves as a clinical resource at the bedside, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice, hospital policies, and regulatory standards, while promoting safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. Key responsibilities include overseeing patient flow and bed placement for the unit, collaborating with physicians, case management, and interdisciplinary team members to plan and coordinate care, and facilitating effective communication among staff, patients, and families. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator assists with staff mentoring, onboarding, and ongoing competency development, provides real-time coaching and feedback, and supports performance improvement, patient safety, and quality initiatives, including audits, documentation review, and implementation of best practices. The role also includes participating in staffing and scheduling needs, supporting charge nurse coverage, responding to patient and family concerns, and helping maintain a positive, professional work environment consistent with the hospital’s values of respect, integrity, and teamwork. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical Med-Surg experience, excellent critical thinking and delegation skills, and a passion for leading by example at the bedside.
