Methodist Hospital, part of SA Health and a leading healthcare provider in San Antonio, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator / Charge RN for our Med Surg ICU within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will function as a key clinical leader on the unit, coordinating patient care activities, overseeing nursing staff assignments, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care to a diverse adult patient population. Working in our fast-paced Med Surg ICU environment, you will be responsible for monitoring critically ill and medically complex patients, managing admissions, discharges, and transfers, and facilitating effective communication among physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator / Charge RN will provide direct patient care using advanced assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment, while also serving as a resource and role model for bedside nurses. You will assist with precepting and mentoring new staff, reinforcing policies and procedures, and promoting adherence to clinical standards, infection prevention practices, and patient safety initiatives. This position plays an important part in daily operations by participating in bed management, staffing decisions, and escalation of clinical or operational issues to leadership as appropriate. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and social workers, is essential to coordinate individualized care plans and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
