Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, Texas is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Medical Renal unit. As a key member of the Healthcare & Medical Services department, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator will provide clinical leadership at the bedside, coordinating and overseeing patient care for a diverse population of medical and renal patients, including those with acute and chronic kidney disease, complex comorbidities, and high-acuity medical needs. In this role, you will function as an expert Registered Nurse, serving as a clinical resource to the team, supporting safe and evidence-based practice, and collaborating closely with physicians, ancillary staff, and leadership to ensure high-quality, compassionate, and timely care. You will assist with patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers, and help prioritize care on the unit, ensuring that staffing and resources are aligned with patient acuity and community health needs.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will participate in care planning, perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, manage renal-related therapies, and monitor patients for changes in condition, escalating concerns appropriately. You will play a central role in mentoring and precepting new nurses, providing ongoing education on medical-renal best practices, and reinforcing adherence to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards. As part of a collaborative and community-focused culture, you will actively support quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and performance metrics related to patient safety, infection prevention, length of stay, readmissions, and patient satisfaction. You will also assist the leadership team in identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing changes that enhance the patient and staff experience.
This position requires a strong clinical background in acute care nursing, with experience caring for medical and renal patients and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in intense or rapidly changing situations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable coordinating multiple priorities while providing hands-on patient care. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will regularly interact with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members, providing education on disease processes, renal therapies, medications, and discharge plans.
