Fleming County Hospital is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide hands-on, patient-centered care to individuals recovering from illness, injury, surgery, or managing chronic conditions. As part of our collaborative and supportive environment, you will help patients improve or regain their ability to perform activities of daily living, promote independence, and enhance overall quality of life.
You will assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and the use of adaptive equipment. Your daily responsibilities will include preparing treatment areas, carrying out prescribed interventions, monitoring patient responses, and communicating progress, concerns, and recommendations to the supervising Occupational Therapist and the broader interdisciplinary care team. You will educate patients and their families on home programs, safety strategies, and the proper use of assistive devices to support continued progress beyond the hospital setting.
This position will work across hospital care settings, which may include inpatient units, outpatient services, and post-surgical or rehabilitation areas, ensuring continuity and coordination of care. You will document treatments, observations, and patient outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, adhering to all regulatory, hospital, and professional standards. A strong commitment to infection control, patient safety, and ethical practice is essential.
