Clinical Nurse Coordinator MICU

Wesley Medical Center, part of the HCA Midwest Health system, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). In this role, you will function as a frontline clinical leader, coordinating patient care and nursing activities for critically ill adult patients while supporting a culture of care, teamwork, and excellence. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator MICU provides direct patient care, oversees patient flow and bed placement, assists with complex clinical decision-making, and serves as a resource and mentor for bedside nurses, technicians, and other members of the care team.

You will collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to develop and implement individualized plans of care, ensuring evidence-based practice, patient safety, and high-quality outcomes. The role includes supervising and delegating nursing tasks, guiding staff in the use of critical care equipment and protocols, assisting with rapid response and emergency situations, and helping to manage staffing, scheduling needs, and daily assignments to balance workload and acuity.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator MICU also plays a key role in onboarding and precepting new staff, supporting ongoing clinical education, and participating in performance improvement initiatives that advance patient care and service excellence. You will communicate effectively with patients and families, provide education about conditions and treatments, and advocate for patient needs within a high-intensity environment. This position is ideal for an experienced critical care nurse who is ready to grow into a leadership role while remaining actively involved in direct patient care.
