- Unit: Cardiac Stepdown (J5-2 Thoracic Surgery Stepdown)
- Start Date: January 30, 2026
- End Date: May 1, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts per week (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm / Night: 7:00pm–7:30am; rotation may be required)
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-Site Position
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown RN experience (travel or permanent)
- Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio or Compact State (must be in hand at submission)
- Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in Cardiac Stepdown specialty
- Ability to work every other holiday during assignment
- Successful completion of ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate assessments during orientation
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- BCI/FBI fingerprinting and badging required prior to start date
- Nicotine screening required for non-nursing travelers
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac and thoracic surgery patients in the Cardiac Stepdown unit
- Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in cardiac status
- Administer medications, treatments, and clinical interventions as prescribed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Educate patients and families on post-surgical care and recovery
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives
- Float to similar nursing units as needed to support hospital operations
