Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Des Moines, Iowa 50316
- Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) – 2 North
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
- Start Date: January 19, 2026
- End Date: April 20, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36-48 (4x12 hr shifts, 48 hrs/week - firm)
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- Setting: On-Site Hospital
- EMR: EPIC Electronic Medical Record
- Floating: May float across campuses/units as needed
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience (post-op surgical experience preferred)
- Experience caring for post-operative patients (hip/knee replacements, mastectomies, abdominal surgeries)
- Ability to float to other hospital units and campuses as needed
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered nursing care for post-surgical patients using the nursing process
- Monitor and manage PCA and Heparin drips, ensuring safe post-op recovery
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Accurately document patient care and interventions in EPIC EMR
- Adapt to floating assignments across various hospital units and campuses
- Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday rotations
