ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license (Nursys verification required) – Registered Nurse jobs
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience – critical care nurse experience
- Critical Care RN certification preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a rural hospital healthcare setting
- Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, TB/PPD, Fit Test, Influenza recommended)
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
ICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent patient care and customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
- Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and data analysis
- Implement nursing interventions according to care plans and physician orders
- Conduct hourly rounds using the 4 P’s approach
- Promote a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment for patients and families
- Utilize health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff
- Provide standard care for central lines, chest tubes, catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and high fall-risk patients
- Precept and mentor new employees, supporting department growth and evidence-based practices
- Engage in ongoing professional development through goal setting and educational opportunities
- Ensure proper storage and safety of medications
- Perform other nursing duties as assigned
