Med/Surg RN Job Details – Albuquerque Healthcare
- Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico (87102) – Explore Southwest culture, scenic mountain views, and a vibrant arts community.
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract
- Start Date: January 19, 2026
- Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:00 - 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
- Unit: Acute Inpatient Rehab (Medical-Surgical focus)
- Employment Type: Travel nursing, On-Site
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active New Mexico or Compact RN license (required at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or acute inpatient rehab nursing experience
- BLS certification (required)
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Previous charge nurse, community hospital, LTAC, or trauma experience preferred
- Experience with patient ratios of 8:1
- Ability to float to similar nursing units as needed
- Local candidates within 50 miles not accepted
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult patients in a rehabilitation healthcare setting
- Administer medications, blood products, and manage IV therapy
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, including stroke scale assessments and wound care management
- Educate patients, perform fall risk assessments, and implement infection prevention protocols
- Utilize assistive devices, feeding tubes, and adaptive equipment as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV teams and phlebotomy
- Accurately document patient care and interventions using Epic (preferred)
- Participate in orientation modules and ongoing clinical training
- Float to similar Med/Surg units within scope as required
