PCU RN Job Details
- Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (Surgical Step-Down)
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts/week (36 hours/week)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/26/2026 – End: 4/27/2026)
- Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
- Unit Details: 23 beds, daily census of 22, patient ratios 4-5:1
- Orientation: 24 hours
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Step-Down RN experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or Ohio state license required)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- BLS and ACLS certifications (V Cert also required)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Telemetry test required; experience monitoring telemetry patients
- Proficient in IV starts, medication administration, patient education, and general nursing care
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Two professional references required (at least one from a supervisor/manager or formal leader)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to post-surgical and medical overflow patients in a progressive care setting
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response/code situations
- Administer medications, manage IVs, perform phlebotomy and wound care
- Educate patients and families on care plans and recovery processes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Maintain infection control and isolation precautions
- Float to other hospital units as required based on patient census and staffing needs
