Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Richmond, VA 23230 (Virginia nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg)
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts; 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1740 - $1860
- Duration: 13-week travel contract
- Number of Openings: 3 Med/Surg RN positions

Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing
- ICU/Critical Care nursing experience highly desired
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for Med/Surg patients
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to identify teaching needs and goals
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses using electronic health records
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct clinical support utilizing the nursing process
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education from admission
- Communicate changes in patient status to healthcare providers to ensure continuity and safety
- Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing staff and support personnel
- Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital and healthcare policies
- Contribute positively to team building, unit efficiency, and quality patient outcomes
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested after orientation
- Engage in professional development, continuing education, and best practices in nursing
